Lori CO-2
My second class observation was such a different environment than the first. I'm not sure whether it was the change of subject or teacher, but it was a whole new learning experience for me. For my second class observation I sat in on a reading class, as opposed to the grammar class in my first observation. This class was far less involved throughout the class time than the first, but perhaps that is just the nature of a reading class. I was filled with curiosity about how the class would respond to me when I learned that 10 out of 12 of the students were from Saudi (and all of them were males.) The class when well though, and all of the students seemed interested when I introduced myself and my major. I also found it interesting that the students had been reading the same reading assignment over again for the third day straight, but when I put myself in their shoes and thought about my Spanish classes, I realized I would probably need at least that same amount of time, if not longer, to complete the task. I liked the teacher's tone and speed of speaking to the students, they seemed very comfortable asking and answering questions. The differences between the two classes I attended is really what left an impression in my mind, highlighting the difference styles and parts involved in learning English.
