Lori TP-2

The second time I met with my tutoring partner I felt like I really helped her to understand her assignments more. First we went over a paper that had been returned to her. She had a few questions on portions that she had been counted off for, and I tried to help clarify or edit the sections with her. I felt like I ran into a brick wall for a bit because I wasn't sure what the teacher was looking for in the writing assignment. Overall I think I helped to go over most of the mistakes however.
Next we went over some of her homework, but the conversation veered unexpectedly from English to cultural aspects of the assignment. I found I was a lot better at explaining the history of the U.S. and why the government was organized in such a manner. She was having trouble understanding the different roles of the branches of government, and I found it enjoyable to clarify, as well as brush up on my history. I realized we were veering away however and made my way back to the lesson.
After we finished looking over her homework we just talked about grammar structure in general, as well as idiomatic sayings that she had run across. We decided that she should keep a list of questions that she may have from each week, and then I would help to try to explain them when we meet again. Her vocabulary was a lot more expansive than I was expecting, I'm not going to lie I was thoroughly impressed with her essay. It also gave me a lot of hope for the future of my Spanish classes =D
