Mario TP2

My second tutoring session took place at the Leon County public library. This time I met with my second tutee Jung-hyon, also from South Korea. We briefly talked and introduced ourselves then we decided to start our tutoring session. Jung-hyon told me that she wants to improve her listening and comprehension skills because she does not understand all the jokes from Seinfeld. I thought it was funny that she wanted to improve her English in order to enjoy Seinfeld a little bit more.

Since Jung-hyon wanted to improve her listening and comprehension skills, I decided to go to VOAnews.com and make her write the news report. She thought it was a good practice because she has to write and listen at the same time. We read an article about North and South Korea. The article was about the political tensions that have been escalating between those two countries. Since Jung-hyon seemed interested on the topic, I thought she would put more effort on doing the assignment. The lesson was simple, but entertaining. Jung-hyon told me that she liked taking dictations and I did not mind listening to the news, even if the reporter was speaking kind of slow. Before we could finish the article, it was time for me to head to class. Jung-hyon and I decided to set up our next meeting later that week in order to finish the assignment.
