Jessica TP4

For my last session with Tugba, we met up at First Friday to have a more interactive lesson. First Friday is basically a big event in Railroad Square Art park where the galleries and studios have openings and artwork on display, the shops are open, there's live music and food vendors. It's a pretty neat event, and since she's going to be an Art History major I thought we could go over some art vocabulary and in real life instead of using pictures from a book. I met up with her and her brother Tuna and we headed out into the art scene. There was a really intriuging installation piece in 621 Gallery so we chatted about that, and the people and the possible meanings behind paintings. She's fairly fluent in English so most of this she accomplished with out any major problems. Specific vocabulary will be the most useful to her I believe so I lent her my (super gigantic all encompassing) world art history book so she can look up some of the terms we went over at First Friday and see how they're used in art critics by others. As a follow up lesson I think that I'll write out some questions and have her work on writing skills in conjunction with art critiques so that she's practicing writing in the same style she will encounter in her graduate studies.
