Francisco CP-6

Abdu and I met today during tea time for our third conversation session. He began by asking me how my weekend went I told him it was a nice, relaxing weekend. I mentioned how last Saturday was my last day at work and that I now have more time to focus on my Tefl certificate. I also mentioned how I will be going to a music festival called "bonnaroo" tomorrow and will not be back until Sunday. Abdu is not familiar with musical concerts. I told him that it is a four day musical event in which dozens of bands play in a large, 750 acre farmland. He asked me where I would sleep and I informed him that camping in the woods is part of the bonnaroo experience. To my surprise, Abdu liked the sound of this journey and jokingly asked me if he could come with me. He added that he also enjoys camping out in the woods and has done so in many occasions in his home country. I elaborated in the subject of musical festivals and how the big musical festival of the west coast is called "Coachella." Our attention then turned to the western part of the United States and how Abdu and I both want to visit California at some point in our lives. I mentioned how my parents live in Seattle, Washington and Abdu recognized the city and said "ahh yes the city that always rains." I laughed at this statement, mentioning that I hear this expression quite a lot when I talk about my parents. I explained to Abdu that people in Seattle love the sun when it comes out and that many offices have "happy lights" that act as the sun, emitting UV rays to the employees so their bodies think they are under the sun. The brain then releases the proper amount of endorphins in order to keep the person "happy". Abdu was able to comprehend the majority of what I said, despite all the technical jargon. Abdu then told me that his country is the opposite, in which the people love it when it rains. allowing them to get way from the abundance of sun.
