Jessica TP 11

For the second hour of the lesson with Jesus and his friend we went over words describing people. I gave them a list with basic vocabulary and they took turns describing each other as well as people that we work with. Because the other part of the lesson was more verbal for this half I had them write down the sentences they made. This was very helpful because they could ask a bunch of questions about spelling and corrected some of their errors when they had to focus and write out each response. We also got to touch on some cultural aspects, what words are appropriate for describing people and what could be taken as offensive or hurtfull. Of course some of the first words you use in another language are not always the most diplomatically correct, haha.

For the end of the lesson we ended up going over prepositions. Jesus went to ask a question in English (an improvement, we're using less and less Spanish!) and he got confused between 'on' and 'over' so we had a brief review of prepositions and used the items in the kitchen to make examples. Finally we chatted for a bit about the Fourth of July and different traditions. All and all it was another sucessfull lesson I think. Jesus is definitely getting more comfortable using English and I'm excited to see such progress!
